Market Sector Directors (MSD) drive our business within HDRs matrix management structure. The largest market sector, Highways & Roads (H&R), generates nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients owning and operating highways, toll roads, and related infrastructure. HDRs primary services in this sector include bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires understanding of H&R clients, funding, revenue streams, and government structures at various levels. The primary responsibilities are divided into three areas:
The MSD sets the vision for HDRs strategy to expand and serve clients in this sector. They collaborate with regional leadership to achieve growth and staff development goals, and coordinate strategy implementation across various leadership levels. The role also involves expanding HDRs presence internationally, engaging with clients and industry organizations, and leading business development efforts.
Specific responsibilities include overseeing strategic vision, serving as a client manager, participating in industry associations, and developing strategic partnerships. Staff development involves managing P&L, ensuring technical excellence, and recruiting. Support to operations includes monitoring performance indicators, project delivery, and quality assurance.
Preferred: 20+ years in highway/bridge planning or engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations.
Required: Bachelors in Engineering, at least 12 years of industry experience with leadership, strong communication and business skills, and a commitment to HDRs culture.
