Plaza Aquafarms, located near Sacramento, California, has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, hardworking, and innovative individual to contribute significantly to a dynamic and growing farming environment. The company produces white sturgeon for both meat and caviar. Over the past 6 months, the company has expanded from one to six farm sites through acquisitions, operating both flow-through and RAS systems. Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Farm Site Manager to oversee one of our farm sites, with responsibilities depending on your experience—either within an RAS system or a flow-through system. Your primary focus will be managing the specific farm, contributing to the planning and implementation of our overall vision. You should possess skills and knowledge related to pumps, piping, alarm systems, oxygen injection, bio-filters, chillers, and have or develop an understanding of sturgeon biology. The role requires managing farm operations as the site manager, coordinating with other farm sites under the guidance of the Production Manager. You will be involved in spawning, hatchery operations, harvesting, record keeping, water quality monitoring, feeding, fish movements, and maintenance of facilities and equipment. You must be adaptable and willing to participate in unforeseen events and take on a variety of tasks on the farm. Qualifications Several years of experience managing an intensive fish farm. Proven personnel management skills, capable of organizing a crew for maximum performance. Experience in both hatchery and production environments. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability. Passion for fish farming, with a clear understanding of farm life and fish welfare.
