Job Purpose:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the strategic and operational management of parts procurement across the JX network, including two warehouses. In close collaboration with the Director of Parts, this role develops and executes sourcing strategies that align with corporate objectives. The Manager oversees inventory optimization, ensures parts availability, and manages supplier relationships to drive value and operational efficiency. Additionally, the role leads, mentors, and develops the purchasing team while identifying and implementing process and technology improvements. The Purchasing Manager works cross-functionally with regional leadership and corporate leadership to ensure purchasing practices reflect the company’s values, innovation, and long-term strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Honor Commitments:

  • Monitor all inventory control processes, including branch stock purchases, planning, excess inventory reduction and redistribution, and purchase order maintenance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate placement of stock orders for branches, minimizing stock out situations and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Develop and leverage metrics to assess current performance and drive continuous improvement across purchasing and inventory functions.

Create Positive Experiences:

  • Build and maintain profitable supplier relationships, negotiating purchasing and volume discounts, and introducing new product lines to enhance parts availability while eliminating product lines that are redundant.
  • Optimize and balance cost versus benefit when establishing parameters.
  • Collaborate with branch and corporate leadership to align inventory parameters with organizational goals and customer needs.

Foster Lifelong Learning:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Identify purchasing process improvement opportunities and make training recommendations to support the corporate and branch team development along to create procedural consistency.
  • Partner with key personnel to elevate and implement technological solutions to improve inventory ordering, receiving, control, and invoicing processes.
  • Oversee purchasing team activities including purchase order placement, fill rate optimization, parts availability, and management of excess and aged inventory in collaboration with other departments.

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend technological and process innovations to improve purchasing efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Contribute to new vendor selection, implementation, and consolidation efforts, exploring innovative approaches to enhance purchasing performance.

  • Monitor and continuously improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory performance and cost management.
  • Assist in tracking and attainment of vendor purchase incentive programs, maximizing financial benefits and maintaining compliance with contractual agreements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management; parts purchasing experience preferred.
  • Expertise in inventory control, purchasing practices, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
  • Proficient with ERP systems, Google Workplace, and advanced spreadsheet analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory parameters and optimize high-turn inventory environments.
  • Experience in forecasting, inventory planning, and process improvement.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with master supply agreements, supplier business reviews, pricing structures, and sales and operations planning.
