Overview

We are seeking a reliable individual to provide cleaning and maintenance services for The Salvation Army facility. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all who enter our building.

Schedule & Hours:

1. Part-time position: 27 hours per week
2. Regular hours:
   • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM
   • Tuesday 8:15 AM to 2:15 PM
3. Schedule may be temporarily adjusted in response to weather conditions or other operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Pick up garbage outside the building daily.
• Ensure that the side gate & dining room door is open at 8:30am.
• Ensure that empty trash from all rooms daily and place in dumpster.
• Ensure dumpsters are locked after use.
• Sweep and mop all hard floor surfaces on a daily basis.
• Wash all glass surfaces as needed.
• Dust and/or sanitize all tables and desks on a daily basis.
• Wash walls and doors as needed.
• Clean and/or sanitize all bathroom restrooms daily (including floors, sinks, fixtures and partitions).
• Replace paper supplies and soap in restrooms as needed.
• Snow removal and salting as needed.
• Keep the back driveway clear of any debris as needed.
• Vacuum all carpeted areas daily.
• Change light bulbs as needed.
• Perform other light maintenance as needed.
• Strip, wax and buff floors as needed.
• Set up rooms as needed.
• Keep the janitorial room and sheds clean and in order.
• Make sure the chapel is ready for church service on Friday.
• Help to pick up, load & unload donations as needed.
• Must keep inventory of the corps utility tools and keep janitor and utility room in order
• Must keep inventory of Janitorial supplies and advise Commanding Corps Officer(s) when supplies are needed.
• The Custodian is responsible to the Corps Commanding Officer(s) to perform any additional assignments under their direction.
• The Salvation Army has the right to modify, delete or add to this job description.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid New York State driver's license with clean driving record
• Must have prior maintenance experience
• Must have completed High School or Equivalent
• Must be able to lift heavy items
• Must have basic knowledge of tools and maintenance routines.
