Job Description

As the Pro Sports Outlook (PSO) Sports Content Assistant, you’ll get hands-on experience bringing unique sports content to life, building your resume while helping build this exciting new sports digital media platform. You’ll work alongside the President of this growing company, learning real-life techniques to conduct research, apply your knowledge of sports in an informational, entertaining manner and have your work shown through multiple sports media channels. The ideal candidate is a sports enthusiast, avid consumer of digital sports content, is organized, and has proficient proofreading skills. This is a great opportunity for individuals to advance their career in the sports industry as previous contributors have successfully landed positions at companies like NFL Films, NBC Sports, the Washington Nationals, University sports programs (Michigan, Georgia, JMU, etc.), Sports Betting platforms, radio stations, and more! Responsibilities: Contribute to the daily sports content including highlights, headlines, and/or facts pertaining to one or more major sports leagues (NFL, NBA, and/or MLB) to increase audience engagement, retention, and enthusiasm. Help ensure all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content (website, social media, email, mobile, video, graphics, etc.) Able to operate a wide range of assignments. Organization, efficiency, attention to detail, and planning skills are required. Use constructive feedback to improve. Must have the ability to devote anywhere from 1 to 2 hours a day to the role. Flexible work schedule, perfect for a student. Work from anywhere you have a connection. Showcases outstanding verbal/written communication skills with timely follow up. Solid understanding of consuming sports accounts on Twitter. Credible knowledge about the teams and active players in at least two of the three major professional sports (NFL, NBA, or MLB). Knowledge about major digital sports media companies (ESPN.com, Bleacher Report, PFF.com, NFL.com, etc.) and social media content that appeals to sports fans. Can thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires quick turnaround results. Comfortable working alone without supervision. Good understanding of common computer & mobile applications (Email, Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Mobile apps). Analytical & problem solving skills to evaluate data and make intelligent decisions. Well-rounded & diverse vocabulary. This is an unpaid internship, although we are happy to work with your school to provide you with internship credit, and there is potential for a future paid role in a growing start-up. Possession of or working toward a Bachelor’s Degree majoring in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Management, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in a multi-channel sports content creation company. Experience with creating compelling messages for different target demographics. Access to a Macbook 15” or bigger to take precision screenshots on Google Sheets. Hands-on experience with CRM and SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, HubSpot, WebTrends, SalesForce, etc. Proficiency with: G Suite Applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Hangouts, Drive, and Gmail).
