Description The Montgomery Parks' Activation Team is seeking Special Event Assistants. The Activation Team is all about creating unforgettable experiences through a variety of special events and festivals throughout the county. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are passionate about events and outdoor programs to join our team. In this part-time role, you will be at the heart of the action, providing on-site support at special events and programs including concerts, festivals, races, community events, art performances and more.
Our 2025 event season is just getting started! This role offers the flexibility of working on weekdays, weekends, evenings, and mornings, based on the event schedule. Special Event Assistants can expect $15.45 to $19.75 per hour with 20-30 hours/week through the end of the Summer. To learn more about the Activation Team and Special Events please visit

Examples of Important Duties - Assists with the onsite implementation of special events and community events including Acoustics and Ales, Mudfest, Parks Ale Trail, Sligo Creek Fest, the Parks Playhouse Jr. Series and more.
- Supports event operations, coordinating with performers, staff, and volunteers.
- Monitors event attendees and provides customer service
- Provides support to the activation team with tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications - Experience facilitatingspecial events and programs
- Experience with special events equipment
- Enthusiasm for and knowledge of special events
- Bilingual/Multilingual a plus
- Previous customer service experience.
Supplemental Information Supplemental Information - This position is not eligible for benefits.
- A background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
- Must possess a valid Maryland Driver's License.
Working Conditions - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for at least two hours at a time.
- Ability to walk at least half a mile and up and down moderate hills without difficulty.
- Tolerance for working in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, humidity, and cold.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees Health Insurance Plans You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
