Brief Description
The Sterling Heights Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the part-time position of Park Maintenance Technician!
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Parks and Recreation Superintendent, with additional guidance provided by the Park Maintenance Mechanic, this employee performs minor skilled and unskilled maintenance work throughout the City’s park system and provide assistance on major park repairs. This position works up to 40 hours per week, 1600 hours a year maximum. May include some nights and weekends as needed. Starting rate of pay is $20.50/hour.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to lift and load up to 75 pounds
Ability to bend, stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time
Ability to withstand exposure to outside elements for long periods of time
Preferred Experience
Baseball field conditioning, marking, and lining experience, including moving of bases/mounds as needed for appropriate age groups
Experience driving a long trailer and truck combination, including loading UTVs and implements onto trailer
General knowledge of outdoor maintenance, including the operation of handheld power tools and equipment such as small tractors or loaders
General knowledge of building trades such as carpentry and plumbing
