Safety Coordinator – Excavation / Civil Construction (Local Hire)
Location: San Antonio, TX
Duration: Through mid-January
Pay: $40 - $45/hour
We’re looking for a hands-on Safety Coordinator to work directly with an excavation and civil crew on an active job site in San Antonio, TX. This is a boots-on-the-ground role, working side-by-side with foremen, operators, and laborers to keep the job moving safely and efficiently. The assignment will run through mid-January.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Be on site daily supporting excavation, trenching, grading, backfill, and underground utility work
- Watch the work, spot hazards, and help crews correct issues before they turn into incidents
- Check trenches for proper protection, access/egress, spoil placement, and soil conditions
- Verify utility locates are in place and followed
- Work with foremen on daily tailgate talks and task planning
- Help crews understand and follow OSHA excavation requirements (Subpart P)
- Monitor heavy equipment operations, traffic control, and work around utilities
- Step in when something isn’t right and help get it corrected safely
- Assist with incident, near-miss, and safety documentation when needed
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting excavation, civil, or heavy equipment crews
- Strong understanding of trenching and excavation safety
- Comfortable communicating with operators, laborers, and foremen in the field
- Willing to be present where the work is happening
- Local to the San Antonio area (no travel or per diem provided)
