Salary: $24.82 Hourly Location : Monroe, OH Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 20254450 Department: Police Division: Dispatch Opening Date: 06/12/2025 Closing Date: 7/6/2025 11:59 PM Eastern Description Detailed Work Activities Accurately, quickly, and courteously receive incoming emergency and non emergency telephone calls and extracts the maximum amount of essential information in a minimum amount of time. Generates records of calls for service for police, fire EMS and public works. Uses public safety radio equipment to dispatch police, fire, EMS and public works; accurately and quickly utilizes computer-aided dispatch system facilities for complaint taking and coordination of public safety incidents. Initiates the public safety alerting systems. Answers 911 incoming calls. Handles high intensity calls and remains calm in stressful situations. Watches camera monitors intermittently during shift. Views police GPS system and maintains watch for unit safety. Maintains a good working relationship with police, fire, EMS and public works personnel; communicates with other agencies when necessary. Greets public walk-ins in a friendly helpful manner. Maintains required licenses and certificates. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or Designee. Qualifications Must possesses a valid Drivers License, completion of a secondary education or equivalent; must pass and maintain certification in the Ohio Law Enforcement Automated Data System. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Department of police goals and objectives; department of police policies and procedures; safety practices and procedures; public relations; records management; geographic layout of jurisdiction; computer programs, and general office practices. Skill in: use of modern office equipment; computer operation; public safety radios. Ability to: deal with many variables and determine specific action; recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; exercise independent judgment and discretion; prepare accurate documentation; complete routine forms; compile and prepare reports; respond to routine inquiries from public and/or officials; maintain effective working relationships; maintain records according to established procedures; deal with the News Media as situations arise; communicate with the citizens and personnel being dispatched to calls for service.
