We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Atlantic Beach, Florida. This role is essential in managing the financial operations of our organization, including overseeing accounting processes, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in construction accounting and a proactive approach to strategic planning and financial management.

Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee construction accounting practices, including accounts receivable progress billings and payment applications in line with contract terms.
• Supervise and mentor two direct reports, fostering their growth and development to meet business objectives.
• Monitor cash balances daily to ensure financial requirements are met and maintain fiscal health.
• Supervise vendor and subcontractor payment processes, ensuring lien waivers are appropriately collected and documented.
• Review accounts receivable aging reports and collaborate with staff to address collections as necessary.
• Lead the preparation and review of monthly financial statements for the organization and affiliated entities, providing detailed insights to ownership.
• Assist in the creation and management of budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fiscal responsibility.
• Oversee weekly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring timely submission of reports and compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning initiatives, including financial projections and growth opportunities.
• Manage IT-related issues and ensure systems function efficiently to support business operations.• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller in a small to medium-sized general contracting company.
• Proficiency in construction accounting practices, including AIA billing, lien waivers, and Florida lien law.
• Hands-on experience with Foundation Construction Accounting Software is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger management, job costing, and month-end close processes.
• Familiarity with payroll processing and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Effective leadership skills to supervise and mentor staff.
• Ability to prepare and present financial statements and reports to stakeholders and external partners.
