Gateway Extrusions – Accounting Controller

Location: Union, MO (In-person)

Job Type: Full-time | Day Shift (Monday–Friday)

Compensation: $110,000 – $140,000 per year

Position Summary
The Accounting Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of our accounting department. You’ll ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and provide strategic analysis to support plant objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Department Leadership: Supervise, mentor and train accounting staff; foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and produce rolling forecasts.
• Accounting Operations: Oversee bank reconciliations, billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, inventory/cost accounting and revenue recognition.
• Month-End Close: Manage month-end and year-end closings; prepare and distribute timely financial statements and plant operational reports.
• Variance (Cost) Analysis: Analyze budget vs. actual variances; communicate drivers and recommend corrective actions to management.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the General Manager, plant accountants and senior leadership to explain results, drive process improvements, and support operational decision-making.
• Internal Controls: Design, implement and monitor plant-level controls in accordance with corporate policies to safeguard assets and ensure report integrity.
• Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements (including multi-state sales taxes); prepare audit schedules and support the annual financial audit.
• Policy Development: Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures consistent with GAAP and other applicable guidance.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a supervisory capacity (or equivalent). Manufacturing accounting background preferred.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to distill complex financial information for all levels of management.
• Attributes: Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

• Office-based role: prolonged periods of desk and computer work.
• Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
• May require extended hours during month-end close, audits or special projects.
